Getting started
AiraNote tutorial
Set up AiraNote, dictate into Windows applications, transcribe existing audio, and personalise repeated words and phrases.
1. Install and sign in
- Download AiraNote for Windows and run the installer.
- Open AiraNote and sign in with your account email and password.
- Allow microphone access when Windows asks.
- Open Settings and confirm the intended microphone and spoken language.
2. Dictate into another application
- Click the text field where the words should appear.
- Hold the hotkey shown in AiraNote Settings. The default is Alt+A.
- Speak naturally. Release the hotkey when finished.
- The floating icon shows moving dots while AiraNote processes the recording, then the text is inserted at the captured cursor.
Keep the target application open while processing completes. The floating icon may move near the selected field, but it should not cover the active control.
3. Transcribe an audio file
- Open Dictation and choose Select file.
- Select a supported MP3 or WAV recording.
- Choose the spoken language in Settings when automatic detection is unsuitable.
- Select Transcribe file, then review the result in the Transcript area.
Plan limits determine the number and maximum duration of file transcriptions.
4. Choose language and output preferences
In Settings, select the language being spoken, the transcription task, British or American English where available, and supported paid cleanup options. Choosing a specific language is normally faster and more reliable than automatic detection for short recordings.
5. Correct names with the dictionary
- Open Dictionary.
- Add one correction per line using
heard phrase => preferred phrase. - Save the dictionary and repeat the phrase in a new recording.
Example: air a note => AiraNote.
6. Expand personal snippets
Snippets are available on eligible paid plans and are stored locally.
- Open Snippets.
- Enter one shortcut per line using
trigger => expansion. - Select Save snippets. Saved snippets become active immediately.
- Speak the trigger as a complete phrase during dictation.
Example: amy's website => https://aimee.ae. Saying
“Amy's website” inserts the saved address. Matching is not case-sensitive.
7. Review and export transcripts
Open Transcripts to review local history. The latest transcript can be edited, copied, or saved as a Word document. Verify important names, dates, figures, and professional content before use.
8. Troubleshooting
- No recording: check Windows microphone privacy access and the selected input device.
- Text appears in the wrong place: click the target field again immediately before holding the hotkey.
- Wrong language or script: select the spoken language explicitly instead of Auto detect.
- A snippet does not expand: save it again, confirm the paid entitlement is active, and speak the complete trigger.
- Processing is slow: close memory-heavy applications and use shorter recordings for direct dictation.
